Are you interested in writing a guest post, article, essay, reviews, summary and analysis for Salvation Press? I'd love to have you! There are so many amazing topics to write on, I could never do it all myself. Here are some guidelines & suggestions for you:
Choosing Your Subject
Salvation Press aims at making quality and useful information available to the reading public electronically and in print. Our aim for the main site is to make summaries and analysis on African literary works—drama, prose and poetry available on the Internet. You could also write book reviews and essays on any book by Africans or non-Africans writers. However, you can write on any topic under the sun for our blog.
Before you write, do a simple search by typing the title of the work or topic on our main site or blog to see if they are not already published. If articles, reviews or summary and analysis have been written on that work or topic, pick up another work or topic and search again. If there is no publication on it, you can write on it and send it to us for publication.
We strongly advise that you have read the play, poem or novel you want to write on thoroughly enough to review, summarise or analyse it. What we need is a thorough and in-depth articles, essays, reviews or summaries and analysis which can be cited as reference material; not just a snippet or synopsis that can be found all over the Internet.
If you are writing for our blog, take time to research your subject and do justice to it! Don't just write info that's available on Wikipedia pages. If there is a Wikipedia page on your topic, try and look for citation sources at the bottom of the page. Google Books and Google Scholar are also good places for research. However, the best place to source for original ideas is published books.
Style & Content
The most important thing in regards to how you write the post, article, essay, reviews, summary and analysis is to let your topic stand out in quality and presentation. Let it engage the average reader. Although there is no fixed arrangement of ideas for our blog posts, you should follow our presentation on summaries and analyses. You should click on the category which your write-up falls on to see how each section is arranged.
If you can find relevant media like images, video, or audio related to your blog posts, you can include those, too. I always include at least one image with each post. (Be sure to only use images that are legally available for reuse and to properly credit your sources!) No images are needed for articles, essays, reviews or summaries and analysis. However, your piece must contain at least one book reference.
Please be aware that I do some minor editing to all submitted posts, articles, reviews, essays, summaries and analyses in order to make them optimally readable for a blog or site. For example, I may add more paragraph breaks, and I usually italicize book titles. I may add or change a few words here and there to make your work clearer and easily readable. Sometimes, I may remove an idea that may not be very correct or misleading. I may also add vital information that may have been omitted.
By submitting your guest posts, articles, reviews, essays, summaries and analyses to me for Salvation Press, you agree that I am allowed to make these minor changes before publishing it. Please also note that we only receive materials in Word, HTML or Plain Text formats only.
You are absolutely welcome to link to your own blog within body of the post (though I'd ask you to limit it to two or three links, and no affiliate links please), and to write your own byline. If you want to include a picture with your byline, sign up for a Gravatar and it will be automatically included at the bottom of the post (as long as you provide me with the associated email address!). You can also provide the URL for your website, and URLs for the following services, which will show up as icons: Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Flickr, YouTube. It's not necessary that you have an account with all these social networks but there is no qualm if you do. We can also give you a link to publish on our blog automatically if you have a Blogger account.
If you are writing for our main site, we will insert your picture on your write-up and make it clickably linked to your special page which will display more comprehensive information about you. Except you give us exclusive right, we will always publish your entries in your name.
If you have Study Notes or Term Papers, you can also send them to us for sale on the site. We'll pay you half of the selling price each time a purchase is made.
